SOUTH AFRICA

THE ULTIMATE GARDEN ROUTE ROAD TRIP

The Garden Route begins about four hours outside Cape Town and includes one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline, the starting point of which is constantly contested as towns such as Witsand, Stilbaai and Albertinia join the route that winds its way for some 200km via George, Wilderness, Sedgefield and Knysna on to Plettenberg Bay culminating in the Tsitsikamma Forest – a fairyland of giant trees, ferns and bird life.  The name GARDEN ROUTE comes from the verdant and ecologically diverse vegetation encountered here and the numerous estuaries and lakes dotted along the coast.  The Garden Route follows the N4 highway between Mossel Bay and Storms River, with scenic stops including George, Wilderness, Knysna and Plettenberg Bay.   is a coastal corridor on the southern coast of South Africa, where ancient forests, rivers, wetlands, dunes, stretches of beach, lakes, mountain scenery and indigenous fynbos all merge to form a landscape of restorative beauty.
