Season Sri Lanka is a year round destination due to the rainfall patterns. South-west Monsoon brings rainfall to the westerns and southern parts of the island from May to October while North-east Monsoon brings rainfall from October to April to the Eastern parts of the island. Even Though in monsoons, rains will fall a few hours (mostly in the evening) of the day allowing travellers to admire the splendors of the island during the morning hours. Taking the route into consideration, the best season for this trip is from January to March.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The 7 days cycling tour is a part of the complete 14 days tour. Instead of only taking you to all the clichéd attractions recommended to you by travel guides,we take you to some of the less-frequented, hidden treasures spread throughout the island as well.
  • The fun begins after you are picked up from the airport and transported to your hotel in Kandy. Here, you will meet the crew and set off on your adventure after a day to relax.
  • You’ll start your cycling tour on day two followed by a scenic train ride from Nawalapitiya to Nany Oya (subject to availability!). Nanu Oya is the nearest train station to Nuwara Eliya.
  • Misty and cool, Nuwara Eliya is truly a portal to another world which is unlike anything else seen on this tropical island. Colonial-style bungalows and vast tea estates lay scattered across this mountainous terrain waiting to be explored.
  • The tour includes a walking trail through Sri Lanka’s highest situated national park at Horton Plains. See some of the unique wildlife featured here before heading back down to the traditional villages seen in Belihuloya.
  • Elephants and more exotic wild animals are up next as you cycle to Udawalawe and then the Sinharaja rainforest.
  • Then it’s down to the southern coast of Sri Lanka. Galle is a culturally and historically significant city and will be your final destination before departure. Explore its colonial fort and enjoy its sunny beaches before you are transferred back to the airport in time for your flight.
  • This is your chance to get to know the land intimately and visit some of Sri Lanka’s true gems that have been tucked away from hordes of tourists.
  • SKETCH ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival at Colombo Airport and transfer to Kandy.
Day 2: Transfer to Peradeniya by Van/Coach. Cycling from Peradeniya to Nawalapitiya via Doluwa & Gamploa. Train Ride from Nawalapitiya to Nanuoya. Vehicle Transfer to Nuwara Eliya.
Day 3: Vehicle Transfer to Horton Plains. Nature Walk in Horton Plains National Park. Ride from Horton Plains to Belihuloya via Devil’s Staircase and Bambarakanda Waterfall.
Day 4: Transfer to Rajawaka via Samanalawewa reservoir. Ride from Rajawaka to Udawalawe via Kaltota. Afternoon Jeep Safari in Udawalawe National Park.
Day 5: Vehicle transfer to Godakawela. Cycling from Godakawela to Sinharaja. Optional : Nature Walk in Sinharaja Rainforest in the evening.
Day 6: Vehicle transfer to Neluwa. Cycling from Neluwa to Unawatuna. Walk in Galle Dutch Fort in the evening.
Day 7: Transfer to Colombo Airport after breakfast depending on the flight schedule.
